Issues ZAPU wont budge on

zapuJOHANNESBURG - As the constitutional making process continues, ZAPU have made it clear that there are two issues it has deemed non-negotiable - proportional representation and devolution of power. (Pictured: Dabengwa, Zapu chairman)

At a poorly attended meeting here, party speakers told their audience that ZAPU stood for pluralism and accountability of leaders to restore Zimbabwes economic pride. Publicity secretary, Luke Sayi, said the party had established a good number of districts in the Gauteng province and concerns about the constitution were being routinely discussed.

However, he warned that should the two ZAPU proposals be ignored, the party membership would vote against the constitution.

“Zimbabweans are one but their cultures are different and they should be governed differently. The provinces are made up of a variety of ethnic groups and must not have instructions from Harare,” said Sayi.
