We all know Jesus for thirty years lived amongst men as the Perfect Man and even though the devil even tried to use the word of God to cause Jesus to fall, it failed and where ever Jesus went He did good.
Then the time came for Jesus to go to that cross to pay the ransom for mankind. For Him to do this He had to take all the sin of the world upon Himself.
Sin has been the cause of sickness, disease, curses, and many other iniquities. We know this was not an easy task for Jesus as we read that when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asked the Father if it was possible to take this from Him and the anguish was so great that He sweated drops of blood.
Brethren, Calvary was not some easy walk for Jesus, especially as He was the Son of God. Besides being physically beaten (and remember Jesus gave himself to be beaten), those religious leaders and the Romans may have thought that Jesus had no choice, but Jesus gave Himself to these people – what humility.
He allowed Himself to be mocked and beaten. When Jesus hung on the cross, it was again not only the physical and mental pain that was so horrific, but it was the spiritual, as He took every sin, past, present as well as all future sin, sickness and disease upon himself.
Every demon and devil must have surrounded that cross, watching and mocking and celebrating as they thought the Son of God was finished.
The spiritual pain and anguish Jesus faced as His Father who had always been with Him turned His back on him must have been unbearable. Then eventually when it was over Jesus spoke those three most powerful words, IT IS FINISHED and He gave up the ghost.
Again the Romans never killed Him, Jesus chose to die and how the devil must have celebrated, but were they in for a big surprise! To be continued on Thursday
