The intimidation comes ahead of Zanu (PF)’s Congress that was supposed to be held from December 8-13, but has since been postponed due to financial constraints.
According to the MDC’s secretary for the area, Silas Gweshe, intimidation was rife in the area were scores of people lost their lives during last year elections.
“The place is just so bad that some people are now living in fear, several MDC supporters have already been forced to surrender themselves to Zanu (PF), and we are being told to renounce MDC and join Zanu (PF) before its congress.”
Zanu (PF) is using the area headmen to identify MDC supporters. MDC District Chairman of the area, Chengetanai Chimunhu, has formally written to the party leadership to intervene.Post published in: Politics
