Six others were given two year suspended terms, meaning they will not be allowed to enrol at NUST until that period expires. The three that have been expelled are Vivid Gwede, Samson Nxumalo and Kurayi Hoyi. The students who got suspended terms are Sheunesu Nyoni, Power Mabhoyi, Nyasha Nyakura, Edias Mucheuka, Kudakwashe Maguchu and Emmanuel Munyenyiwa.
The expelled students are considering approaching the courts to challenge their expulsion. Letters of expulsion signed by Vice Chancellor, Professor Lindela Ndlovu, said the students had been found guilty of engaging in conduct that was or was likely to be harmful to the University and that they damaged 10 window panes in the Commerce Block and Chemistry Building and 16 window panes in the Transport workshop and damaged motor vehicles parked at the workshop.
You subsequently proceeded to the Gwanda Road and threw rocks and other missiles at passing motor vehicles and generally hindered the free flow of traffic there on. The University takes an extremely dim view of such behaviour and avers that it has no place in an institution of higher learning. I also note that this is not your first appearance before the Student Disciplinary Committee. You have been previously suspended but you obviously have no intentions of reforming. I therefore expel you from the National University of Science and Technology. You are also prohibited from entering the National University of Science and Technology Campus, reads Prof Ndlovus letters.
