BULAWAYO - A soldier based at Ngezi Barracks has appeared in court facing charges of raping his wifes maid.
32-year-old Bhekinkosi Ncube was remanded out of custody on US$150 bail and will appear again in court on November 17. He is pleading not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
On September 28, at about 6 pm, Ncube went to his wifes residence and found their maid in the sitting room watching television. The soldier told her that he wanted to show her something in the bedroom and the 18-year-old maid refused to follow him. Ncube then allegedly pulled her into the toilet and raped her.
The maid told Ncubes wife what had happened and she was given US$6 to return to her rural home. The woman reported the incident to the police, leading to Ncubes arrest.
