To be a good ruler is not to have much education or anything of that nature. The secret to good governance is love. Paul the apostle said they are three main important things but the greatest is love, he said.
He said the people had suffered more than enough under the so called independence in the form of gukurahundi which claimed more than 30 000 people, murambatsvina which displaced people, land reform programme which heavily disturbed the socio-economy of the country and the recent state sponsored violence which left some desolate, others orphans, others traumatized while some deformed.
Hon Biti said they then formed the inclusive government because of love and consequently, people have noticed the power of the Prime Minister in the last seven to nine months.
He said: Prime Minister has been able to deliver some remarkable improvements and development in a very short space of time under the so called sanctions. This is because of the great love he has for the people
Sanctions are a lie and are myth. What was missing all these years was a leader with love.
He said a leader who treats others as second class citizens in their own country and views violence as a solution to anything is a failure. Violence, he said, is evidence of failure to think.
He said Zanu had become a way of life and the first disinfectant is a new constitution.
To this regard Hon Biti added that MDC is a peoples project and not an individuals project to deliver democracy, freedom and prosperity.
Said Hon Biti: We should write a new constitution which will act as a disinfectant and remove all personal brandings that had been labeled to this country by individuals who viewed this country as theirs and theirs alone.
Democracy, he said, is our second bus stop. People must be free to speak, dress and associate with whomever they want.
Hon Biti said the third bus stop or disinfectant is fully restoring the economy which had gone down the drain.
We should be seen achieving development. Patronage and corruption comes as a result of people taking advantage of poverty. We want to empower people so that they dont have dependency syndrome.
Children should go o school. They should be educated. Education liberates the mind. There is no greater liberation than educating someone, said Hon Biti.
He said free and fair elections will mark the last bus stop.
Our experience in the last six months have shown us that a bus is not driven by two drivers. We need to finish the unfinished business of 29 March 2008. we are an energetic party full of youthful blood who can deliver real change to the people of Zimbabwe.
It has become a paradigm to Zanu Pf why the MDC people are not adopting their corruptive tendancies. To them (Zanu), government is an avenue for them to steal, said Hon Biti.
He concluded by saying the process of change that began in 1999 is irreversible. The past decade has proven that and the coming years will provide the ultimate proof.
We have come a long way and we are almost there. There is a revolution that has happened in this country, a revolution that can not be changed. We have hope and want to restore our personal security and prosperity.
Hon Biti was impressed by the leadership in Manicaland and in the party as a whole.
We are proud of the leadership in the party.
Speaking at the same occasion and at Mandeya Grounds in Mutasa North the following day respectively, the National Women chairlady, Hon Theresa Makoni echoed the same sentiments and said they formed the inclusive government for the love of the people.
After administering the consultative programme on the performance of the inclusive government, we chose to remain in the inclusive government because Hatingaramwiri munda kimakudoka?, she said.
She expressed her great concern over the continual harassment and imprisonment of MDC officials and supporters.
What kind of a country is it that only MDC people commit crimes and are apprehended? Its surprising that only MDC people are capable of committing crimes and all Zanu pf people are law abiders.
No matter how trivial or flimsy the case might be, if its only from an MDC official or supporter, its blown out of proportion and the case is treated with much punch as if its something out of this world, she Said.
Hon Makoni who is also the Minister of Public Works said the truth of the matter is Zanu is now a thing of the past and is using desperate measures to regain power.
Zanu Pf nolonger stand a chance. It is now a thing of the past. Its government was full of dictatorship and it did not respect the people at large, she said.
To this end, Hon Makoni said they are working towards making a new constitution that will restore back the five major virtues robbed from people by Zanu Pf among other things.
Said Hon Makoni: Zanu Pf robbed us of our dignity. We nolonger had dignity as a person and latter alone as a people. Although we are not counted under colonial ruled countries we are not free. We were robbed of our democracy nad freedom.
We had lost hope as a people. Our economy had gone down the drain. We nolonger had security of the person. People were now leaving in fear of the unknown and were always on the run.
She said they are working flat out to restore the peoples dignity, democracy, hope, prosperity and security.
Despite the rains that fell during the occasion, the rally continued and was well attended by MPs, Provincial leaders and councilors.
