Douglas Mwonzora, co-chair of the Select Committee, said the money would be channelled to the steering committee through the government.

The progress that we have made so far is that we have been assured by the Minister of Finance Tendai Biti that the programme will be fully funded by the government, which be funded by the UNDP, while some European member countries have also expressed their willingness to help with the process.

Already the Ministry of Constitution Affairs has received $13million from the Ministry of Finance in order to kick start the process which will see the steering committee receiving money in weekly batches starting from the 8th of this month.

The consultation process will take place from the 27th of November to the 19 December and this will be followed by a Christmas break and we will start again on the 9th January 2010, said Mwonzora.
