Why so much suffering?

prayer_2.jpegOn Tuesday I shared with you that there is hope and mentioned that for those who have been praying and nothing has happened that there is a reason.

We need to acknowledge that God loves Zimbabwe! He loves the people of Zimbabwe! How do we know this? Well first of all Jesus died for all (2 Cor 5:15: 2 Pet 3.9). That means if Jesus was prepared to suffer a horrendous death for every Zimbabwean, it could have only been love that constrained Him.

How do we know He loves the country of Zimbabwe? Who put the gold, platinum, diamonds and the other minerals in the Zimbabwean ground? Who gave Zimbabwe such fertile soil?

A question that is on many peoples lips, if God loves us, why is there so much heartache, sickness, disease and poverty? If God loves us why are there droughts and earthquakes?

Some denominations have been preaching that all the above disasters have been put on man, because of sin! Most of the church has become sin conscious and not God conscious. What do I mean by this? Well let me ask you a question? If you are going about your daily life and suddenly your television and car stop working and you dont have the money to repair them what is your first thought? If it is the same thought that I had, and you are honest, it will be, Oh no, God must be unhappy with me and I am been punished!

So one scurries to the prayer closet – where have I sinned? Is it because of my bad thoughts or what I have said, or is it because lately I have not been spending much time in reading my Bible, etc etc? When a tennis player is facing a serve at nearly 100 miles an hour or a batsman is facing a ball at nearly the same speed, they do not have time to think. They simply react and, depending upon how much practise they have had, they will either hit or miss the ball. In our daily lives we react according to circumstances and the reaction I described happens because we have been programmed to think like that. I have good news for you; this is not what God teaches in His Word.

On Sunday we will begin to look what the Word of God says about His love. – Fourie is the author of Love is the Greatest Conqueror. www.raysonlinebooks.com
