ZISCO United snaps up players

HARARE Cash-rich Zambian Premier Soccer League side, ZISCO United, have snapped up the CAPS United trio: Tafadzwa Rusike, Nyasha Mushekwi and Edmore Sibanda.

The move follows a fabulous display in the just-ended Cosafa Senior Challenge tournament. ZISCO United, who are at the summit of the Zambian Premier Soccer League table, sent a two-man delegation to Zimbabwe to watch the Cosafa tournament with the aim of signing outstanding players. The ambitious Zambian club, touted the richest Premier Soccer League club in Zambia and owned by the Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO), sent one of their coaches Emmanuel Msichili and team committee member Ndovi Hastings to Zimbabwe.

Speaking exclusively to The Zimbabwean at the weekend, Msichili revealed that he had been impressed by the CAPS United trio.

We came here specifically to scout for good players and I can say I have been impressed with what I saw today. The number 19 (Rusike) from CAPS United is a marvellous player. His timing is amazing for a player of his age. He is very creative and can tell you that we will sign him. I was also impressed by the number 12 striker (Mushekwi) and the goal keeper (Sibanda), said Msichili.

The ZISCO United gaffer, whose team is expected to play in the Champions League, however, also revealed that he was impressed by Dynamos striker Cuthbert Malajila but was not sure of his age. We have to consider the age factor because this is an investment. We need a player who can give us returns at the end of the day, said Msichilli. Zimbabwe, who were hosting the regional tournament for the first time since 1985, lifted this years edition of the Cosafa tournament after beating neighbours Zambia 3-1 in the final at Rufaro on Sunday.
