The Urban Warriors signed Gutu from Harare-based Shooting Stars in May this year, after he had impressed during a week-long trial stint, but the former Zimbabwe under 17 skipper has not yet played in a competitive match.
Ajax Assistant Coach, Wilfred Mugeyi, this week said that Gutu would only feature for the Capetonians next season, as the league-chasing side had exhausted its foreign quota when he was signed. He is a very sharp and skillful striker that we really need, said Mugeyi, himself a former crack striker during his playing days in the South African Premiership.
We, however, can only register him for next season during the quota limit, which we have already fulfilled, meaning that he cannot play for us now. Mugeyi was confident that Gutu would do well for the youthful Ajax, adding that the striker had continued to impress his paymasters at training.
I can guarantee you that if he continues to play the way he is doing, he will make it because he is a promising striker that we really need.
