Junior officers salute GPA

soldiers_3HARARE - Junior army officers who were languishing in abject poverty because of economic mismanagement by the former Zanu (PF) government have paid tribute to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai for signing the Global Political Agreement.

In an interview The Zimbabwean junior officers thanked Tsvangirai for his tireless efforts to bring change in the life of ordinary Zimbabweans. Food rations in our camps have improved significantly compared to last year when we were forced to go for days without food. The inclusive government has brought joy to the army camps, said one junior officer.

According to statistics from Army Chief of Staff Major General Martin Chedondo, 4 500 personnel deserted the army due to hunger and poor conditions of service. But junior officers urged Tsvangirai to continue to work hard to improve the life of civil servants who were reduced to paupers by the Mugabe regime. We are tired of our superiors who want to force us to support Zanu (PF). We want change in our lives and of our families. Zanu (PF) has failed us and we want Tsvangirai to change things for the better, said another soldier.
