Rev kicks off healing process

gukurahundi_eraHARARE - A Zimbabwean cleric last week made a startling revelation that he was part of a group who had attacked Ndebele people during the Gukurahundi era.

The admission was made at a civic society meeting convened to discuss the ongoing national healing programme currently under way in the country.

Reverend Wilson Mugabe, a prominent member of the Christian Alliance, told the meeting that his violence was part of his past, before he found God.

Let me make a confession, he said. I was involved in political activities with a certain political party. I was burning huts in Midlands and Matebeleland regions in 1983 before I turned to God in 1994 and I want to ask for forgiveness from the Ndebele people today, said Mugabe to deafening silence.

I have been travelling around the country making this confession. I have been to Tsholotsho, Lupane and many other places and thats my contribution to the national healing process.

The Zimbabwe Christian Alliance (ZCA) is a faith-based organisation. The mission of the organisation is to bring about social transformation in Zimbabwe through prophetic action.
