In an interview with CAJ News on Friday, Chikwaikwai said his high hopes of making a good turn-around at the club were hitting a brick wall because of his injury. Chikwaikwai, who signed for the Clever Boys in July 2009, is yet to find the back of the net despite high praises being heaped on him. “The injury has done me a huge blow. I am no longer featuring in the starting line-up, and in many cases I will be watching the action from the terraces. My burning desire is to play again so that I repay my coach for showing confidence in me,” said Chikwaikwai.

He said Bidvest Wits coach, Roger de Sa, had not yet seen much of his scoring prowess since his arrival at Millpark from Njube Sundowns in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Chikwaikwai was Zimbabwe’s top goal scorer in 2008 as well as being voted Soccer Star of the Year in the same period. Another Zimbabwe international, Energy Murambadoro, left the Clever Boys last year to join Mpumalanga Black Acess following a nagging knee injury that threatened his football career. Murambadoro was off-loaded during the 2009/2010 premiership season.
