Choose carefully – Chiweshe

elvis_chiweshe_dHARARE - Players need to be careful who they chose as their manager, Dynamos head coach, Elvis Chiweshe (pictured), told The Zimbabwean.

These youngsters tend to ask certain businessmen to manage them just because they have got money and they help them financially; this is something zvinoenderwa kuchikoro (that someone needs to be qualified for), said Chiweshe. The former Dynamos player expressed concern over local players who have left Zimbabwe for lower leagues in foreign countries for better financial deals.

Sometimes when you look at the value of US$ in other countries, it may look attractive from here, but sometimes the money may not buy anything there because of the cost of living, he said. At times it becomes unavoidable because there are players who get such good offers and a look at their age will make them go for it because they want to make money quickly before they retire.

Zimbabwe has lost a number of talented players because national coaches have little knowledge of their performance. It has not been practical for national coaches to call players like former Dynamos captain, Justice Majabvi, stylish midfielder Clemence Matawu and former Gunners and Masvingo United player Ovidy Karuru, into camp because of lack of competitive game time and media coverage the players suffer.
