Disciplinary hearing for Bishop Paul Verryn postponed

judgementJOHANNESBURG, THE disciplinary hearing for the suspended Central Methodist Church Minister, Bishop Paul Verryn, which was scheduled for Monday, 1st February has been further postponed indefinitely, CAJ News can safely confirm.


According to documents in possession of CAJ News, the hearing was postponed pending arbitration of the dispute between Bishop Verryn and the presiding Bishop of Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA), Ivan Abrahamas.

Among other leaders church leaders to be involved in resolution of the dispute is MCSA District Discipline Registra of Highveld and Swaziland, Mr.

Jeff Matthee.

“The Arbitration Panel will consider Rev. Verryn’s request that the decisions to charge him and to suspend him be reviewed and set aside,”

reads the letter written by Adeline Malema of Legal Resources, representing Bishop Verryn.

The dispute, which is mainly seen as between Bishop Verryn and the preisiding Bishop Abrahams should now be referred to the mediation.

Meanwhile, an estimated 3 000 Christians, mainly refugees, asylum seekers, the poor and the down trodden members of South Africa converged at the Central Methodist Church to pray for Bishop Verryn for the whole night last night.

South Africa’s most strongest labour body-COSATU, National Union of Mining of South Africa (NUMSA), Southern African Women’s Institute on Migration Affairs (SAWIMA) and Zimbabwe Exiles Forum (ZEF) have all issued statements in solidarity with Bishop Paul Verryn.
