Help the poor – Masaka

MUTARE The business community, NGOs, civic organisations and churches have a pivotal role to play in alleviating the suffering of the under privileged, said Mutare deputy mayor Itai Masaka (MDC-T).

He made the statement at the informative conference organised by the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints held at a local hotel. The purpose of the conference was to deliberate on the matters pertaining to humanitarian aid, community service and efforts to strengthen family ties in the country. Masaka took the opportunity to commend the Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter Day Saints for its active involvement in community service in Mutare with a view to assisting the less privileged members.

The church has donated a grinding mill motor for use at Zoroari Old Peoples home. The church has also donated blankets, hygienic kits and medication to several clinics in and around Mutare, said Masaka. The church has also embarked on cleaning exercises at Sakubva bus terminus, painted the Meikles Park and Dangamvura clinic. I have noted with pleasure that the church has demonstrated the key principle of the Christian living. I therefore implore upon all Christians to show concern for orphans, widows, poor and sinning brothers and sisters in our community, said Masaka.
