Khumalo told The Zimbabwean on Sunday that he was owed more than 30 000 pula in salaries and allowances by his team, adding that he was so frustrated that he was deciding to return to Zimbabwe and look for employment elsewhere.

“To be frank I have not enjoyed my stay here because of issues to do with salaries,” said Khumalo. “The team is experiencing financial problems and they owe me more than 30 000 pula in salaries and allowances and you know it is frustrating to work under those conditions.

Things are not really good at the moment because it becomes very difficult to work when you don’t get paid. I have been discussing with the team management about the issue and they keep promising me that they will sort out the issue. I will see what will happen but I am thinking about coming back home.”

Khumalo who won his first major silverware as coach when he lifted the CBZ Cup with the then Premier League outfit Mwana Africa which earned him and his team a ticket to play in the CAF Confederation Cup tournament the following year is being linked with the Hwange job. Khumalo, a Warriors midfield destroyer during his hey day, was part of the popular Dream Team created by the late Reinhard Fabisch in the early 90s which came within a whisker of qualifying for both the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia and the World Cup finals in the United States in 1994.
