Masimba Munjanja, who runs Munjanja and Associates, appeared before Magistrate Sibongile Msipa last Wednesday, facing charges of theft as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal and Reform Act.
Allegations against Munjanja are that on 20 March last year he was masquerading as an estate agent and approached Aggie Ngwenya claiming that he could purchase a house in the Entumbane high density suburb on her behalf. Munjanja was then given R30 000 by Ngwenya before he drafted an agreement of sale which he handed over to her.
The court heard that after a week Ngwenya requested the title deeds of the Entumbane house but Munjanja said they were still being processed. After sometime Ngwenya went back to the Munjanja and again requested to occupy the house but was told the tenants were refusing to vacate the house. Last month Ngwenya became frustrated by Munjanjas excuses and approached the Bulawayo City Council to verify the status of the house. It was after visiting the BCC that she discovered that the house still belongs to a Fraser Mwasa.
Msipa granted Munjanja US$100 bail. He is represented by Munyaradzi Nzarayapenga and his trial kicks off on11 February.
