In the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, Bangladeshs Shakib Al Hasan has slipped one place to third which has put Zimbabwes Ray Price up into second place, ICC spokesperson Sami Ul Hasan told The Zimbabwean on Sunday from the ICC headquarters in the United Arab Emirates. New Zealand’s Daniel Vetorri heads the rankings. Price, a 33-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner who is nephew to renowned golfer Nick Price had a superb comeback to the Zimbabwe cricket side, closing the year third in the ICC ODI bowling rankings after taking 45 wickets in just 27 matches while bowling very economically.
He played in all ODIs for Zimbabwe in 2009 against South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Kenya. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has returned to the top 10 of the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen after a run of stellar performances in the just-concluded tri-nation series in Bangladesh. Sangakkara not only won the player of the series award for his scores of 74, 60, 17 not out, 68 and 55 but has also been rewarded with a jump of six places in the latest rankings which puts him in 10th position for the first time since February 2009.
The left-hander has now become Sri Lankas highest-ranked batsman, leapfrogging opener Tillakaratne Dilshan who has also climbed two places up the ladder to achieve his career-best ranking of 13th. Dilshan was the fifth most successful batsman in Mirpur when he finished the series with an aggregate of 186 runs, including 104 against Bangladesh in the tournament opener and 49 in the final against India.
