ZRAB President Reverend Godwin Mwanza said evil spirits, and not reckless driving, caused most road accidents. Major accidents that are happening are being caused by the devil, That is why as a religious board we have sought to converge at black-spots and anoint areas, said Mwanza. Taking part in the exorcism were the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Traffic Safety Board and Vehicle Inspection Department (VED).
Mwanza said olive oil represented the blood of Jesus, which cleansed every satanic and demonic spirit. Areas treated with cooking oil included the site of the infamous Chirundu bus disaster in which 23 people perished. A further 20 people died in an accident involving a lorry carrying mourners.
