Almost a month after South African club Kaizer Chiefs issued him with his clearance to join a club of his choice, Portsmouth have slammed reports that the player has joined English Championship side Sheffield United. Porstmouth chief executive officer, Peter Storey, felt that the club should have been consulted as they had been responsible for the players upkeep in England during his lengthy spell out of the game.
I am aggrieved to have heard that he has signed for Sheffield United, he told South African media. We looked after him from August 2009 to January 2010. While we did not look after him financially, we looked after his accommodation. I am not sure as to the arrangements between Chiefs and Sheffield United but they should have consulted us. The 23-year-old former Harare United star, whose stint in the sideline has cost him a place in the national team, is currently training with English Championship side, Plymouth Argyle.
