deliver judgement using candles, after a power outage at the Masvingo Magistrates court.
An apparently annoyed Karwi, who was about to deliver judgement in a murder
case, had to temporarily adjourn the court to enable court official to run into the city to buy candles after a power outage.
There was no money to buy candles and senior officials had to run around to raise the money to buy the candles after Karwi expressed outrage. The generator which was handed over to the court two years ago by the government developed a fault and has not been repaired due to lack of money,” said a source.
Masvingo has been one of the hardest hit cities with load shedding in
Zimbabwe. The city can go for more than 12 hours a day without power.
