In a murder case that has since been linked to a love triangle, Tshabalala, who was shot on the hip at about 3am on Sunday, died about 30 minutes later, after paramedics failed to save him.
According to his family members, the Zimbabwean, who lived at Diepsloots Extension 7, arrived home from a party with his girlfriend, but found another woman in his room. A scuffle ensued between the girls, until the girlfriend phoned her other boyfriend for help.
We only heard in the morning that he had been shot and killed, said the deceased mans brother Lizwe. An eye-witness, who requested not to be named, recounted the event. Three men pulled the deceased into the yard, after which one pulled out a gun and shot him on the hip, said the source.
After shooting him, the assailants reportedly stood watching Tshabalala die. Police said that they had arrested six men in connection with the murder, but the gun had still not been recovered at the time of going to print.
We are still investigating the case further. From the look of things, the girlfriend might also be involved, said a policeman. Tshabalalas death came barely two weeks after Khumbulani Dube, 29, and her three-month-old baby were fatally stabbed in Hillbrow.
