Only one Zimbabwean team involved in the African Safari competition, Dynamos, are away this weekend to DRC where they face FC Lupopo in their first round first leg tie hoping to earn a ticket to the mini-league stage of the tournament.
But the other three participants will be at Rufaro hoping to book tickets to the group stage of the tournament.
Zimbabwean fans will first watch Lengthens taking on Young Africans of Tanzania at Rufaro tomorrow (Friday). Reigning league champions Gunners will take on Egyptian giants Al Ahly at the same venue the following day and CAPS United will round up the weekend with a date against South Africa’s ABSA Cup winners Moroka Swallows in what will be the Battle of the Limpopo.
Zimbabwe were given two extra slots in the African Club competitions by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the basis of their performance. In 2008, Harare giants Dynamos reached the semi -finals of the African Champions League while Monomotapa reached the group phase of the same competition last year.
