susan_tsvangiraiAll roads lead to Glamis Stadium in Harare on Saturday where thousands of Zimbabweans are expected to converge for the memorial service of Amai Susan Nyaradzo Tsvangirai (Pictured), the wife to MDC President and Zimbabwes Prime Minister and head of government, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Amai Tsvangirai passed away on 6 March last year when she was involved in a car accident along the Harare-Masvingo highway. She was travelling to her rural home in Buhera with her husband. President Tsvangirai sustained serious injuries in the accident. Mai Tsvangirai, nee Mhundwa, was born in 1958 and was buried at Humanikwa village in Buhera.

The memorial service will be held under the theme; A legacy of humility, courage, compassion and love. Scores of people, including the President, family members, church members, friends, senior MDC and government officials are expected to attend the gathering. The people of Zimbabwe recall Amai Tsvangirai as the mother of our struggle for a peaceful and democratic Zimbabwe.

Amai Tsvangirai also stood by her husband during his trial on trumped-up charges of treason, four assassination attempts and the 11 March 2007 police beatings including many other forms of harassment and assaults.
