According to Musa Gwasira, the PSL board member in charge of fixtures the league programme kicks off on March 27. But a look at the first three weeks of the league programme shows that Dynamos and defending champions Gunners have been handed fixtures which are too tight to call. They have been presented with the toughest possible way to start their respetive campaigns for honours this season. Gwasira said they were still to come up with the actual dates of the matches as they also needed to factor in the national team commitments.

But, Dynamos get the ball rolling with a date against old enemy – Gunners in the opening week of the league marathon. Reigning champions Gunners beat the Harare giants to the finishing line last season in close race following a 2-1 victory that broke the hearts of the DeMbare family at Rufaro. In their second game DeMbare they will be at home (Rufaro) against Highlanders in what will be the Battle of the Cities. Then they meet bitter rivals CAPS United in the third week of the league programme. While Dynamos appear to have been given the toughest opening fixtures, a look at the fixture programme in the first three weeks also shows that defending champions Gunners are also in a tricky situation.

After their date against Dynamos in the first week, Gunners now under the guidance of Darlington Dodo following the departure of Moses Chunga to Shooting Stars face premier soccer league returnees Shabanie Mine in probably their easiest fixture of the league programme. But they face Highlanders in their third game of the league campaign and will have to roll up their sleeves if they entertaining any hopes of retaining their league title. CAPS United appear to have been handed the easiest pairing in the first two weeks of the league programme as they face newboys Douglas Warriors in their first game before taking another newcomer Black Mambas in their second match. But, they have to clear a hurdle erected by bitter city rivals Dynamos whom they meet in their third game.
