Police chief punished over PMs cars

BULAWAYO The MDC-T is set to drag Assistant Commissioner Edmore Veterai to court after he refused to release vehicles belonging to the Prime Minister and his party members.

Morgan Tsvangirais X-5 and two Isuzu vehicles belonging to the MDC are in police custody, the X-5 at Lupane Police station, and the others at Hwange station. Speaking to The Zimbabwean, the MDC-T Deputy Organising Secretary, Morgan Komichi, said that the party was frustrated by the conduct of Veterai. According to the MDC, Veterai is even defying orders from his superior, Augustine Chihuri, to release the vehicles which were impounded during the 2008 plebiscite.

“As a party we have decided to take him to court so that he answers why he is refusing to release the vehicles,” said Komichi. “As a party we have not committed any crime that warrants this police action, but our vehicles remain in police custody. We know that Veterai is trying to frustrate the MDC-T in the constitution making process,” said Komichi.
