SAFSA secretary general, Gladys Gailey, said her association found it a perfect fit to seek God’s divine powers for Bafana. “SAFSA has plans to organize seven days of National Prayer for
Bafana-Bafana, exactly seven days prior to the kick-off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” said Gailey. This follows the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s decision to honour South African football fans as the best supporters of soccer in the African continent by presenting them with the 2009 Best Supporters Award.
SAFSA deputy chairman, Nale Mzion Mofokeng, said his supporters association would approach all football sponsors for financial assistance and support to ensure that all South African football fans shared in the celebration. “CAF’s decision to recognize South African football fans and supporters for the hard work they put into making what our football is today, presents us
with an opportunity to showcase and celebrate this noble achievement.
“As SAFSA we saw it fit that we organize a National Heroes’ Tour to, among other things, activate and mobilize the nation to rally behind Bafana-Bafana during and beyond the 2010 FIFA World Cup. “This will not only ensure that we defend this Award but will ensure that we also conquer the World during the 2010 FIFA World Cup” said Mofokeng.
