The unscrupulous police officers conducting body searches are forcing timid immigrants to part with the Rands before being allowed free passage.
In rooms where men are subjected to intrusive searches, officers will be shouting 20 Rands for officer. The majority of travellers passing through the border post pay the money, said Martin Sibanda who was subjected to the day light robbery recently.
The police conduct regular body searches to flush out criminals trading in valuable minerals such as diamonds. It has been alleged that whenever such contraband is discovered, it ends up in the pocket of the law enforcement agents.
No comment could be sought from police spokesman as they could not be contacted.
