US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Charles Ray, opened the place last week, saying he had high hopes the information centre would see the cementing of relations between the United States and Zimbabwe through the various programs that will be conducted at the Corner.
“The general public will not only have access for purposes of research but for purposes of action as well,” said Ambassador Ray.
“Businessmen can use the American Corner to locate prospective clients and suppliers. NGOs leaders can find colleagues in the United States with shared interests and shared challenges and students can learn about opportunities for study in the United States.”
Tim Gerhardson, the embassy’s Public Officer, said the corner would also serve as a venue for hosting joint programs with the public library.
“We hope to provide an insight into American foreign policy, social, economic and political life as well as promoting regular and productive interaction between the people of Zimbabwe and the United States,” Gerhardson said.
The American embassy is also launching a renewed Educational Advising Centre in Bulawayo.Post published in: News
