Last Saturday, the youths cleared refuse and garbage at a bus termini where commuters throw away rubbish indiscriminately. Targeted areas included Fourth Street and Charge Office bus termini. Despite spirited efforts to clear Harare of uncollected refuse by the City Council, ever mounting garbage around town remains a challenge to the city fathers. A helping hand from the youths, if sustained, will help restore the countrys capital city. Public Relations Officer for the organization, Owen Karuza, said youths must be kept occupied with meaningful activities beneficial to communities.

As an organization aimed at grooming youths into responsible citizens, we decided to keep ourselves busy. This cuts time youths may use to indulge in intimate affairs which result in contracting of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Occupied youths have no time for under age and sexual activities before marriage. Youths must champion the creation of a pro-social environment nation. They have to adopt an environment friendly behaviour and sustain aspirations of youths, said Karuza. The organization has membership from across the country. It is a mouth piece for the voiceless and vulnerable kids who can not speak for themselves.

Besides promoting an HIV/AIDS free society, we aspire to empower youths economically. We provide youths with representation in economic, social and political spheres of life, added Karuza. Among other things, YLO mobilizes government and NGOs to facilitate projects to empower idle youths. The organization will also help youths to have a say in the constitution making.
