Zimbabwe’s Powertel and BTC to launch US$5m internet bandwidth connectivity initiative

internet_exploZimbabwe's PowerTel, a subsidiary of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) and the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) will this Wednesday 24 March 2010 launch in Harare a US$5 million internet bandwith connectivity project aimed at boosting communication between the two neighbouring countries.

It is reliably understood that BTC has agreed to provide Zimbabwe’s PowerTel with bandwidth capacity for 2 years.BTC is reported to have committed P504 million to secure reliable bandwidth connection from the West African Cable Systems (WACS).
