A memorial service will be held at Harares Glamis Stadium on Saturday. Susan, 51, died in a car accident on March 6, only three weeks after her husband was sworn in as Prime Minister. The couple had been married for 31 years. Morgan Tsvangirai was injured in the accident, which occurred near Beatrice as the family was travelling to their rural home in Buhera. He was flown to Botswana for treatment.

There was an unprecedented outpouring of grief from across Zimbabwe, where Susan was widely respected. Condolence messages to the new prime ministers came from all over the world. She was an outstanding woman humble, courageous, compassionate and loving, a constant source of support for her husband, and deeply religious. In losing her, Zimbabwe lost a real first lady.
