ZITF preparations

The dates for the 2010 edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair have been announced as the preparations are at an advanced stage.

The General Manager of ZITF Company, Daniel Chigaru said more than half of the exhibition space has been occupied by both international and local exhibitors. “So far we have over 50 percent of our space booked. The 2010 edition of the ZITF would be held at a time when tourist would be visiting South Africa and the rest of the southern African region for the World Cup tournament that is scheduled to start in June in South Africa. The fair will run from 20 April to 24 April,” he said.

Industry and Commerce Minister Welshman Ncube urged more local exhibitors to come on board as they would benefit from the exposure. “The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company is looking for cooperating partners with whom they can realise a few of their dreams and visions and also attend the pressing issues. The cooperating partners will in return get an opportunity to exhibit and get exposed to the regional and international communities,” he said.

Minister Ncube appealed to the private sector to put the interest of the nation first through partnering the ZITF Company in realising their goals of unlocking the investment opportunities.

“This year’s event is the 51st edition. It will be held under the theme ‘Unlocking Our Investment Potential’. How apt indeed we do have the potential at both the national and regional levels as well as the global level. We just have to make a concerted effort to unlock it. My appeal to the business community is once again to put the interest of the nation first. We also need you cooperation in ensuring that this year’s event is a resoundingly successful,” said Minister Ncube.
