Bokkie makes big impression

bokkieJOHANNESBURG The most recent addition to the Springboks rugby team has been plucked from the popular Jungle Beat television series and goes by the name of Bokkie. (Pictured: Bokkie anticipates his future with fellow Springboks.)

The brainchild of Zimbabwean-owned Sunrise Productions in Cape Town, Bokkie is an animated character full of attitude and loved by kids. The South African Rugby Union (SARU) announced its decision to partner with Sunrise last week, and already has plans to use Bokkie to appeal to the younger generation.

The huge benefit to SARU of Bokkie is that he will assist in developing a broader awareness of rugby among the youth, said brand manager, Sarah Williams. Bokkie will have his own episodes and will be entered into major and even Oscar-qualifying film festivals. All this will continue to build Bokkies profile while he remains clearly identified with SARU.

The Jungle Beat television series is broadcast in more than 100 countries and has won numerous awards. The success of The Jungle Beat brand, which has already attracted lucrative deals with Woolworths, Numetro and many others, is testament to the innovation and creativity of the Sunrise Production team.
