Civil servants forced to throw party

zanu_supportersGWANDA Zanu (PF) Matabeleland South province has been accused of forcing civil servants to organise a party for Vice President, John Nkomo last week. Civil servants in various Ministries in Gwanda government offices were ordered to do cook, organise activities and mobilise villagers to attend the bash.

Sources indicated that unspecified action was threatened on civil servants who did not actively participate in organising the Zanu (PF) celebration party for the Vice President which was held at Manama on Friday.

According to the MDC, civil servants have lodged complaints against Zanu (PF). Petros Mukwena, the MDC secretary for Matabeleland South said: “Civil servants have been to our offices to lodge complaints against Zanu (PF) for forcing them to participate in organising Nkomo’s party. It’s a violation of the GPA by Zanu (PF). Civil servants should at all times remain professional and apolitical. State ministries should not be used as an extension of a political party.

Andrew Langa, the Zanu (PF) Matabeleland South chairman could not be reached for comment.
