Dynamos beat FC Lupopo 1-0 to sail through to African Champs league second round

HARARE giants Dynamos beat FC Lupopo 1-0 at their new home ground -the National Sports Stadium yesterday to progress to the second round of the African Champions League.

Dynamos will now meet Gaborone United of Botswana in the second round where there is a battle for a place in the lucrative mini-league stage of the tournament. Former Njube Sundowns dreadlocked midfielder Thabani Kamusiko struck the priceless goal for Dynamos when headed past former Dynamos keeper Ephraim Mazarura after 69 minutes.

An appreciative crowd of about 20 000 fans paid their way into the match which was also watched by high ranking government officials who included Minister of Information and Publicity Webster Shamu and Local government minister Ignatius Chombo. South Africa’s Julius Malema. Former Dynamos players Philip Marufu, Carrington Gomba and goalkeeper Mazarura played in the match yesterday but Marufu was later substituted. Dynamos advance to the second round courtesy of a 2-0 aggregate victory after winning the first leg by a similiar score line in Katanga two weeks ago.
