Malajila, was barred from turning up for Dynamos in their match against Gaborone United last Sunday by Chapungu who demanded payment of outstanding US$24 000 from DeMbare for him to be allowed to pay.
But Dynamos hit back this week. Club chairman Farai Munetsi said they had given up hope on Malajila because Chapungu’s demands were outrageous.
“We can not afford that amount. It’s outrageous. We have 30 players and we are still to settle the transfer fees for those players. We can do without him. There are other players. Life will go on,” said Munetsi.
“It is the principle of demanding such huge sums of money just before such a crucial match we are saying we can not accept. They can take him elsewhere because we can not afford that amount,” said Munetsi.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe – through their franchise Chapungu United – own the rights for Malajila and ordered Malajila to walk out of the team until Dynamos settled the outstanding US$24 000 they owe them.
Malajila had also been withdrawn from the team just before Dynamos flew out to DRC for a Champions League assignment against FC Lupopo but later flew for the assignement following the intervention of Minister of Information and Publicity Webster Shamu.
He went on to score the only goal that counted for Dynamos to see off FC Lupopo but missed the second leg in Harare owing to injury. He has however recovered from injury and starred for DeMbare in the 2-0 win over Highlanders in the Independence trophy final
