Econet gets international award

econet_3gParis based Otherways Management Association Club has awarded Zimbabwes leading mobile communications company, Econet,with the Global Award for Perfection and Ideal Performance.


Econet chief executive Mr Douglas Mboweni received the award at a gala dinner and award ceremony in Berlin, Germany, last week.

Issuing the international award Otherways said it is crucial in boosting Econets brand in envisaged promotional and marketing activities.

The award is aimed at rewarding firms that show excellence and determination in their operations.

Since its launch in 1996, The Strive Masyiwa owned Econet Wireless has established itself as a leading communications company, spreading its wings to South Africa and becoming the first to launch mobile internet in Zimbabwe.

The company currently has the largest subscriber base of over 2 million and is currently upgrading its network coverage.

Otherways Management Association Club was formed as part of the Otherways International Research and Consultants business stimulation and promotion programme.

It aims to create links between companies that have won its prizes, thus establishing permanent contact and offering new business opportunities in the diverse meetings organised jointly by Otherways and Consulting France.

Club members are drawn from over 50 countries in all manufacturing and service sectors.
