Fissures appear in MDC-M

job_sikhalaCHITUNGWIZA - Fissures have emerged within the MDC-M formation with former ST Mary's MP, Job Sikhala, (Pictured) allegedly leading another faction.

Sikhala told The Zimbabwean that he and members of the party’s national executive had decided to reclaim the party from Mutambara and Secretary General Welshman Ncube who he accused of “auctioning the party” to Zanu (PF).

“This is a national programme and it is unstoppable. The party’s reclamation committee is in place. The machine is well oiled and ready to reclaim the party and ready to hand it over to its original owners, men and women responsible for nurturing the ideas of the MDC guided by the founding principles of the party. We are holding our inaugural national executive meeting on 31 April which will chart the way forward preparing for the national convention where five hundred delegates are expected to attend,” declared Sikhala.

“Mutambara and Ncube belong to the old century school of thought, their hearts, souls and thinking are all clothed within Zanu (PF)’s political thought,” he added.

The controversial Sikhala boasted the support of members of the party’s national executive, including the party’s youth league.

“There is general agreement among party cadres that the party had been hijacked by foreign bodies. These political amateurs were hired gunslingers who we invited to take up posts in the party in the hope of giving it that intellectual impetus. Unfortunately they did not quickly learn what the MDC stands for – good governance, democracy, rule of law,” Sikhala said.

Mutambara and Ncube have been accused by most pro-democracy commentators of aiding Mugabe’s stay in power by hero worshiping him and participating the in the discredited land grabbing which Zanu (PF) initiated in 2000. Ncube acquired a farm in lower Gweru which specialises in cattle ranching with an alleged stock of 8000 herd.

Efforts to get comment from Edwin Mushoriwa, the party’s spokesperson, were fruitless.
