Footballers Union of Zimbabwe treasurer and Gunners midfielder Moore Moyo urged the new ZIFA board members to work hard in the development of the game, saying the last four years were wasted.
Instead of going forward we were going backwards. Our FIFA ranking (117) says a lot about our game and no sponsorship for the top flight league. ZIFA has to lead the way in good corporate governance .Once activities at ZIFA are transparent, surely the corporate world will come back into the fold and this will cascade to PSL which will find it a lot easier to find sponsorship, he said.
We would like a ZIFA that gives players the recognition they deserve for entertaining the people. The idea of National team players not getting paid their promised COSAFA monies, the idea of camping from home should be a thing of the past. We want a ZIFA that is able to work hand in hand with the players union for the overall benefit of players and the betterment of the game. As players we also wish for the new ZIFA leadership to introduce a vibrant junior league that is adequately funded and carefully managed so as to protect the heritage and improve the level of the game.
Moyo further declared that players have suffered enough its time we start enjoying the benefits of our talent!
National team coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, agrees the new ZIFA board needs to implement measures that will put the interests of the players first to restore respect and dignity to their profession.
All we want is change in the manner football is administered. We want better remunerations for players; it is so discouraging when players win in Swaziland and they get $US100. It would also be something convenient if we could have training camps for every game we play, said Chidzambwa.
