Mutasa resurfaces at Kiglon

footballHARARE Former Shooting Stars coaching trio Lloyd Mutasa, Calisto Pasuwa and Masimba Dinyero have resurfaced at Chitungwiza-based Premiership outfit Kiglon. Mutasa and his two assistants were tasked by the club directors to rebuild Kiglon after the side had appeared to die a natural death after its franchise was put up for sale.

Before the start of the season, the inseparable former Dynamos trio conducted training sessions of a faction of Shooting Stars Football Club at the University of Zimbabwe grounds while Moses Chunga, another former Dynamos kingpin, trained the other group at Lord Malvern.

However, Mutasa and his trusted lieutenants have now rejoined Kiglon, a team they helped win promotion into the Premier Soccer League in 2008. “It feels great to be coaching Kiglon again. We are happy to be back. The aim is to build a formidable team which will be able to challenge for honours next season,” said Mutasa.

Kiglon was put on sale at the end of the 2009 season by club founder and owner Arthur Chitunhu. A number of influential figures including flamboyant businessman and property mogul Philip Chiyangwa have in the past three months expressed interest in the Kiglon franchise.

However, reports say Chiyangwa pulled out of the deal after the Kiglon directors rejected his offer of a residential property in Waterfalls in exchange for the team.
