GOKWE - Zanu (PF) militia here have forced MDC supporters in the area to flee aftering threatening to burn them in their houses. Several families who are supporters of the MDC have sort refuge in the mountains as there are afraid of being burnt in there homes. One of the affected villagers, Abel Kufazvineyi, is the MDC-T district chairman.
“Known MDC supporters are no longer sleeping in their homes, because of the massive intimidation. People are threatened with death. They are saying that if all MDC supporters are killed then they will be no more supporters of the party in the district, said Kufazvineyi.
Among those leading the persecution of MDC supporters are members of the infamous Border Gezi who receive salaries every month just like civil servants. “We are helpless against people like William Katopa, Zvandivinga Mudzimu, Nowhere Mudimu, Peter Chimanimani, Sarudzai Muchazambe and Mary Nyoni are the trouble causers in our district and we are appealing to the government to put an end to this,” said Kufazvineyi.
