Zanu (PF) propaganda angers villagers

CHIZANGA - Villagers here are bitter about what they described as lies and cheap propaganda by a Zanu (PF) legislator, Biggy Joel Matiza, who lied to the nation that Chidiya Clinic was operational.

Matiza, who was Member of Parliament for Mrewa South and West before political constituencies were further delaminated, told the nation through state-controlled media that the clinic, whose construction started 12 years ago, was finally open to the public.

Most Zanu (PF) projects remain uncompleted. How can an honorable member of parliament deliberately mislead the world? Matizas lies perpetuate suffering of the poor, as potential donors and well-wishers would assume all is well in the country. He wanted to gain undeserved political mileage and garner support among the electorate. People travel some 11 kilometers to the nearest clinic at Shambamuto, said MDC councilor for ward 26, Passmore Mangwiro, who showed this reporter the abandoned project.

Mrewa Rural District Council has since requested Mangwiro to scout for well-wishers, to assist with funding of the incomplete clinic project. Building material at the clinic was allegedly looted by Zanu (PF) officials, Resca Zuva (former councilor), Abron Nyamande (chairperson Zanu (PF) Chizanga area, Wonder Musana (contractor) and another Zanu (PF) ward chairperson, Thomas Chihowa.

Zuva and Chihowa reportedly have 30 bags of cement looted at the clinic, stocked at their homesteads. Window and door frames have since been vandalized at the neglected clinic.

Other villagers accused Zanu (PF) of surviving on falsehoods.
