Chaos at CSC

BULAWAYO - There was chaos last week at the state owned meat processing company Cold Storage Company (CSC) headquarters here, as workers went on a rampage over unpaid salaries.

CSC workers have not been paid their salaries for more than a year owing to viability problems. Riot police had to be called to control the situation as workers had locked all the gates to the company premises in Belmont demanding to be addressed by chief executive officer, Ngonidzashe Chinogaramombe. We had no other option but to force them to listen to us, one of the workers told The Zimbabwean.

When contacted for comment, Chinogarambombe confirmed that workers once held him hostage demanding their salaries. Yes something like that happened, but we are trying to put things back to normal as the government has given us a go-ahead to get into a strategic partnership with a certain company that will pump in US$57 million to resuscitate CSC, he said.
