Dynamos break CAPS United jinx

dembare_logoHARARE giants Dynamos broke the hearts of CAPS United fans after they finally broke a three year jinx in which they failed to beat their bitter rivals when they edged them 2-1 in a thrilling league match at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Thousands of fans paid their way into the stadium to watch the high profile derby despite the cheapest ticket going for $5 for the rest of ground up from the usual $3 for the rest of ground.

They came in droves and fittingly, the match lived up to its billing as a mouthwatering fixture.

It was Dynamos’ first time to beat CAPS United since 2007. CAPS United have been enjoying their dominance over Dynamos in recent years and last season they beat them in both league and Cup games.

However, it all came to an abrupt end yesterday with inform striker Evans Gwekwerere and former Njube Sundowns striker Dylan Chivandire registering their names on the score board in the first half. CAPS United got their consolation from big striker Nyasha Mushekwi just before the break.

However, coach Lloyd Chitembwe was shown a red card by referee Gift Kajiva for insulting assistant referee Pamela Chiwaya in the 21st minute.

Chitembwe had to watch the match from the terraces leaving his assistant Mike Madzivanyika taking charge of the team.
