Families forced to walk 20km

MUZARABANI Sixty-six people from 16 families in Muzarabani Hawa ward were recently forced to walk more than 60km to St Alberts to seek refugee from marauding Zanu (PF) youth.

According to the MDC-T Chair for Muzarabani, Zanu (PF) avowed that they would weed out all known MDC supporters with the explicit approval of Chief Changara, a declared Zanu (PF) supporter. Youths led by Windby Kagodo, Cardwell Mafigu and Hondo Muza, are reported to have threatened the suspected MDC supporters with grievous consequences if they did not surrender to Zanu (PF).

“Ordinary people are living in fear, only an elderly woman was left behind because she has problems walking. We want JOMIC to do something about this situation,” said a local. In spite of the continued intimidation some of the 60 people who fled their homes are slowly trickling home.
