The deceased Dolly Mguni, who had been ill for sometime left behind an eight months pregnant wife. Mguni was staying with the wife at Circle court near Hillbrow police station. The Zimbabwean attended his memorial service held at Doornfontein last week before his body left for Zimbabwe.
Isaac Mguni, the deceaseds uncle who addressed the mourners said Mguni had been ill for some time and his relatives were planning to take him to Zimbabwe. He committed suicide after some Apostolic church members had prayed for him. Mguni was said to have woken up in the middle of the night and headed for the kitchen where he took a knife and stabbed himself in the throat and stomach before throwing himself from a seventh floor of his block of flat.
The wife who woke up after hearing some noise in the kitchen failed to catch up with her husband who bolted out of the house and ran up the stairs to seventh floor where he threw himself to the ground and died on the spot. His wife disclosed to the relatives that he was HIV positive. Mguni was born in 1977 in Plumtree in Matabeleland South.
A pastor from the Apostolic church told mourners that young people should learn to share their problems with their elders instead of taking their own lives. He was expected to be buried in his home in Plumtree over the weekend. A relative said the deceased never used to visit his home area. He said he died a poor man and was not a member of any burial society.
