The department was headed by Kisimiso Dlamini.
Informed sources in the party told Newsday that the party moved swiftly to remove Dlamini, who is alleged to have sneaked four agents of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) through the back door of Harvest House last month.
The MDC has kept a tight lid on the latest development. However, a visit to the Harvest House reviewed that the party had shifted responsibility of security to the youth.
Youth hangers on, who used to mill around the building, have been removed.
Security has been tightened with all visitors being escorted in the building by the youth.
“There is no one in the security department not today or in the near future,” said a receptionist.
Dlamini was attacked along with the Director General Toendepi Shonhe by youth who were accusing them of maladministration. However Shonhe who is the party Chief Executive Officer, is still in office.
Following the violent chaos, the involved youth were suspended pending investigations.
The partys Deputy National Organising Secretary, Morgan Komichi, said results of the investigations would be made public as soon as leader of the party, Morgan Tsvangirai finish reviewing the report produced by the investigating team.
