According to sources who declined to be named for fear of victimisation, three senior MDC officials have been compromised after they were given undisclosed sums of money by the state security agents to destabilise the MDC in the area. The three MDC officials who are said to be on Zanu (PF)s payroll are Simplicio Dengeza who is the chairman, Godwell Chikwesi Vice Chairman and Emmanuel Murwira the Organising Secretary.
“We are surprised at the conduct of the three as we regard them as our leaders. They do not attend meetings that are called by the MP and move around openly supporting a CIO operative, said the sources.
The three are alleged to have set up a team of youths including Zanu (PF) supporters to victimise the MP. When contacted for comment Nezi said that he was aware that some members of the party were trying to destroy the party, but could not confirm the names. MDC-T President Morgan Tsvangirai is on record as saying that the party should be vigilant in order to safeguard the party from infiltration.
